MALLORCAN WINE

The wine from the area of Binissalem is well known worldwide through the mark of origin ("Denominación de Origin") on its labels. Important labelling for Spain.

Grapes with names like Manto Negro and Moll are well known to those who study wine. Other grapes such as Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon are household names.

Wine is matured usually in Oak barrels which are stored in huge, cool cellars of Mallorcan Bodegas and these are certainly worth a visit.    Jose L. Ferrer, Bodega C'an Ribas, Bodega Macia Batle and Jaume Mesquida are some of the well known names.

The Moll grape produces a fruity white wine and much of it is now widely produced through modern technology.

The Manto Negro and Callet wines are rich and fruity with spiced flavours.

Rosé wines come from the traditional variety Manto Negro by scrunching the grape and are best served chilled.
